The Fairfield Community Food Bank's Weekend Food Backpack Program helps housed and unhoused students experiencing food insecurity. Currently, there are 88 students identified as experiencing homelessness in the school district. McCrorey-Liston School of Technology has no weekend food backpack support and has seven (7) students in need. The South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP will hold its annual King Day at the Dome Celebration on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 8 a.m. ET at Zion Baptist Church on Washington Street in Columbia, before processing to the State House grounds at 10 a.m. ET. The event is scheduled to end at noon. US Senator Cory Booker will give the keynote address while other state and national leaders will also participate and give remarks.
